What Two Teams Played In The First College Football Game?

Question: When, and between who, was the first college football game played?

…Jeopardy music plays softly in the background as you look up at the ceiling and finally shrug to yourself…

Answer: The year was 1869, and it was between Rutgers and Princeton.

Rutgers I can almost see, but Princeton was surprising for some reason.

I suppose it makes sense that the older universities would be more likely.

Something like Harvard vs. Yale…

Blind guess though, I would have probably picked something like Penn State and Notre Dame.

Cliche, I know.

I just love learning something new.

The first official college game was played between Rutgers and Princeton in November 1869.
