What Part Of A Joke Is The Funny Part?
Not everyone agrees on what the funny part of a joke is?

Like most, I thought you were supposed to laugh at the punchline, right?

Apparently, not everyone is on the same page.

I feel like this explains a lot.

At the very least, it explains why some might be laughing at a particular derogatory joke, while others are taking it as a personal insult.

Watch a politician do it though.

Some will find it endearing that a politician would dare to step over a line.

Other’s heads will explode in rage and disgust.

All because they are seeing two different things.

It’s kind of amazing, if you think about it.

When we current or ex–New Yorkers laugh at “offensive” jokes, we are usually reacting to the awfulness of it. We are not laughing at the target of the joke.
-Scott Adams, Win Bigly
