An Easy Acceptance Of Our Differences

An Easy Acceptance Of Our Differences

Let’s have a more easy acceptance of what makes us different.

Religion and politics can be so divisive – and for good reason – we hold our faith and beliefs tight.

And we should. But what about the smaller differences that we still find tribal?

The distinctions that make us look past one another…

This made me think of the beauty of children’s literature, and coffee in the rain.

And remember: There is never a good reason to not love each other.

It’s curious that the examples that come to my mind of this kind of informal membership, sustained by affection and an easy acceptance of idiosyncrasy, tend to be from children’s books—perhaps most adults no longer dare to hope for connections like these.

-Alan Jacobs, How To Think
