What You’re Doing

Do you know what you’re doing?

Because most of us don’t have a clue – not really.

It’s crazy to say, but I already have a larger website/blog than 99% of the population ever will.

The truth is that I feel like a beginner.

But here’s the thing. I know of people that are 1,000X my digital size that feel the same way.

It’s true: Few of us have all the answers.

(Psst. But you don’t have to tell anyone!)

With great and solemn portent, my teacher announced she would tell us something that her teacher had told her, and that her teacher’s teacher had told him, and so on, back to Yeats: The thing to remember is that no one ever finds out that you don’t know what you’re doing.

-Sarah Manguso, 300 Arguments (Amazon)
