I was back in my hometown this 4th of July.
It rained on us the whole ride driving down on the 3rd.
But we had no idea what was coming next.
I mean, I know Camp Mystic well, I graduated in the same class as James Eastland.
This is all just brutal.
From my parent back porch we could see helicopters flying up and down the river.
We could hear EMS too.
On the 5th, we went and stood behind the public library there behind the old Hastings and watched the water in awkward silence.
There were a dozen other people there too but everyone spoke in hushed tones.
A lady finally looked our way and said “it’s just so sad” as she walked by.
