Well, the Texas Tech Men’s basketball team played for the national championship last night against the University Of Virginia.
This is only worth noting here because:
A: I graduated from Texas Tech.
B: Nobody expected Tech to be playing in the championship.
C: I can blog about anything I want to.
It was an emotionally devastating loss for Tech.
I mean, if Virginia were up 15 points the entire game, I do not think many would have worried about it much. Virginia has had a great basketball team for years now and Texas Tech’s presence last night was a bit of a Cinderella story.
But the entire game was an emotional roller-coaster that extended all the way into overtime.
Honestly, with fifteen seconds left in regulation and up by three points, I thought Tech was going to pull out the win.
Just don’t let Virginia make a 3-pointer, and then Virginia is forced to foul on the next inbound pass. Right? The game becomes a free throw contest.
Well the next second, Virginia sinks a wide open 3-pointer to tie the game.
Here Tech still has a chance to call a timeout and setup a final play in regulation. Hopefully, a high percentage shot in the paint. Right?
Instead, Texas Tech rushes it back down the court and launches up an ill-planned 3-point shot as regulation expires – and then
I am a great Monday morning quarterback, I know…
What a season.
It is just a game. Right?
