Things People Collect

There is nearly no end to the things people collect.

  • I collect books.
  • I collect quotes.
  • I collect ideas.
  • I collect experiences.
  • Pictures, too.
See, collecting is the fuel of the creative mind.

After so much collection, just light it up and watch your collections burn with imagination.

I watch my ideas mesh in Evernote where I can sort, categorize, and easily find them.

There’s not as big of a difference between collecting and creating as you might think. A lot of the writers I know see the act of reading and the act of writing as existing on opposite ends of the same spectrum: The reading feeds the writing, which feeds the reading. “I’m basically a curator,” says the writer and former bookseller Jonathan Lethem.

-Austin Kleon, Show Your Work

You should start collecting things too.

Collecting leads to creativity, and who knows were creativity will take you – that’s kind of the point.
