Begin To Write Something New Today

Wherever you are, write something new today.

The sun will rise.

People will marry, and other people will pass away.

Time will flash past you.

And one day you will be gone.

I hope you have a few beautifully constant priorities in your life.

And after relationships, I hope that writing is one of them.

Remember that it is ok if your priorities are boring ones.

“Easter prayers will be uttered, eggs discovered, the boy on my son’s knee will watch Thomas the Train . It will be raining. I will most likely rise, make some coffee, and quietly slip away. Climb the stairs, close the door as the comforting sense of their camaraderie softly recedes, then sit on the detective chair, open my notebook, and begin to write something new.”

–Patti Smith, M Train
