For nearly half a year, We’re Going On A Bear Hunt was a favorite in our house. The repetitive cadence of the major part of the story is great for learning children. Quickly, they are repeating along with you “Were going on a bear hunt. We’re going to catch a big one. What a beautiful day! We’re not scared.” And my favorite part is the buildup right before you find the bear. “Tiptoe! Tiptoe! Tiptoe! WHAT’S THAT?” The illustration of this book also has a timeless quality to it. It’s impossible to tell if the family bear hunt took place this year – or fifty years ago.
