“All the time and work since scribes first began.”
Well – yeah – that’s a lot of writing.
But you could say that about anything…construction, farming, music, and everything else.
We “stand on the shoulders of giants,” as they say.
To be honest, I love the simple solitude and reflection that the writing life entails.
It’s mostly thinking about things, considering them in a way that only you can, and then trying to articulate those thoughts to another.
Can you imagine the first time someone thought to document something by writing it down?
An attitude of respect for all the sheer work that’s been done since scribes first began to scratch on clay tablets is a good thing to cultivate.
