Signal What Someone Means To You

Now that’s an effective way to signal what someone means to you!

Ditch what many would view as a “better opportunity” to spend time with them.

Honestly, I’d rather eat dinner one-on-one with one of my kids than a king or queen too.

I think the gift of time is one of the greatest things we can give because we all only have a fixed amount.

For sure, I am constantly astonished at people that cancel commitments when something better comes up. This is the exact opposite of what is needed here.

I know of Diana’s career here because it began to overlap with McMurtry’s.

And to finish the loop, Diana’s daughter, Sara, even did a documentary on McMurtry.

Once Diana and her daughter, Sara Ossana, passed through London on their way to Italy. I was there making a speech for PEN at the Queen’s Hall, I believe. Once I got the Ossanas settled I called Irving, who invited us over for a drink. Sara, who was traveling to Europe for the first time, had given herself a smashing haircut for the occasion. Sara’s haircut made such a hit with the Lazars that they decided to ditch their dinner with the Queen of England and the King of Greece—or so Irving declared.

-Larry McMurtry, Hollywood (Amazon)
