My Peaceful Rebellion

My Peaceful Rebellion

You can bet that any peaceful rebellion that I am ever involved in is going to look a lot like this.

I’ll ease through breakfast, meander over lunch, and loaf thru the afternoon.

Optimally, I’ll have something to read.

And maybe I’ll get in a nap and a swim – maybe I’ll write something – and catch a movie that evening.

All I know for sure is that my mind will be at ease.

If needed, take a minute, a day, or a week, and detach:

The modern mind is plagued, we don’t know what’s worth doing & what’s not worth doing & because of this confusion, we have spun ourselves into an anxiety of constant action.

Appropriate detachment is not only spiritual healing but it’s also peaceful rebellion.

The Most Appealing Daily Schedule I Have Ever Heard Of

The Most Appealing Daily Schedule I Have Ever Heard Of

This daily schedule made me laugh in a little bit of envy.

In the end, I want the daily routine of a writer.

But spending your day, how an old aristocrat spent his day, does not sound bad either.

Maybe it’s the creature comforts I have in every other area of life, but the leisure of time seems better than no other.

I mean, come on:

The most appealing daily schedule I know is that of a turn-of-the-century Danish aristocrat. He got up at four and set out on foot to hunt black grouse, wood grouse, woodcock, and snipe. At eleven he met his friends, who had also been out hunting alone all morning. They converged “at one of these babbling brooks,” he wrote. He outlined the rest of his schedule. “Take a quick dip, relax with a schnapps and a sandwich, stretch out, have a smoke, take a nap or just rest, and then sit around and chat until three. Then I hunt some more until sundown, bathe again, put on white tie and tails to keep up appearances, eat a huge dinner, smoke a cigar and sleep like a log until the sun comes up again to redden the eastern sky. This is living…. Could it be more perfect?”
