What are economic compliments?
Compliments are goods or services that are often used together.
Compliments differ from substitutes in that they are not used “instead of” – compliments are used “with.”
Examples of compliments include:
- Hotdog buns – they are often purchased and used with hotdogs.
- Computer software – it is often purchased and used with computer hardware.
- Motorcycle jackets – they are often purchased and used with motorcycle helmets.
- And stilettos – they are often purchased and used with cocktail dresses.
