Is there a way to know if you are a true student?
Sure: Around new ideas, a true student is like a sponge.
And I know what you are thinking.
The answer is no!
You don’t have to agree with all the ideas presented to you.
There is much to be said for challenging yourself.
I mean, I actively read things I know I will disagree with.
Mostly, I want to find holes in my own logic and see where there can be room for improvement.
And here is the secret: If you are a true student – Surprise! – You are also the teacher.
“A true student is like a sponge. Absorbing what goes on around him, filtering it, latching on to what he can hold. A student is self-critical and self-motivated, always trying to improve his understanding so that he can move on to the next topic, the next challenge. A real student is also his own teacher and his own critic. There is no room for ego there.”
