The difference between Belgian mussels and French mussels is simple.
Belgian Mussels are steamed in beer.
French Mussels are steamed in white wine.
I mean, I had no idea there even was a difference.
No idea.
Not that I eat them.
Shellfish is a no-go.
It always starts with reading though.
“I learned that Belgian-style mussels are steamed in beer, while French-style are steamed in white wine, and even though it would be more than a decade till I steamed mussels myself, I started cooking the way I start everything: by reading.”
