I understand that political lying – that is campaign lying – is not an issue because one is not “under oath.”
Bill Clinton got into trouble for lying under oath, after all.
And frankly, at this point we expect that our politicians are lying.
The oath is taken by anyone testifying in front of Congress.
Still though.
We are a republic, and the macro problems that we have are institutional problems.
I believe that anywhere and everywhere they are found, the macro issues are self inflicted.
We are letting them burn it down?
Or maybe we are too stupid to know the difference?
INCREDIBLY, THERE ARE currently 545 human beings who are
directly , legally, morally, and individually responsible for every problem America faces. Have you ever wondered why America doesn’t have a balanced budget? Have you ever in your life heard of a politician who wasn’t for a balanced budget? Have you ever heard a politician speak in favor of a complicated tax code that ordinary citizens would find difficult to understand? Then why do we have a complicated tax code that ordinary citizens find difficult to understand? Meet the 545 men and women who enact every law, propose every budget, and set every policy enforced on the citizens of the United States of America: one president, nine Supreme Court justices, one hundred senators, and 435 members of the House of Representatives. By the way, have you ever noticed that ifany one of us lies to them, it is a felony? But ifany one of them lies to us, it is considered politics.
