Let’s not have writing shame,
Just doing the work should be enough.
Check the creative box and move on.
I hole-heartily agree with entrepreneur and blogger John Saddington on this.
It is not stupid/shameful/or a waste to struggle with your art.
Even if your art – especially if your art – is disapproved of by others.
Even if we disapprove of our own art.
Do you know how often I think something I have written is complete garbage? It happens more than I would like to admit.
I should be writing better – about something else – in a different way?
My how comfortable it must look from the bleachers.
I have spent a good many years since—too many, I think—being ashamed about what I write. I think I was forty before I realized that almost every writer of fiction and poetry who has ever published a line has been accused by someone of wasting his or her God-given talent. If you write (or paint or dance or sculpt or sing, I suppose), someone will try to make you feel lousy about it, that’s all. I’m not editorializing, just trying to give you the facts as I see them.
