Erickson’s point here is that getting a book published should be one of the last things that a writer worries about.
You have to develop a writing discipline, write, write a book, write a good book, find an agent, get a publisher to buy and print your book, and then – finally – you have to go out and sell your book.

The point is that, for most, all of this is a long and painful process that can last for years.
I say write online and have an audience before you write a book.
Of course, that can take a decade too.
