Which – in Italian – simply means writer…
Yeah. Of course, I had to look it up.
From what I can gather, the difference here denotes gender, but is rarely used in normal conversation.
One is not a “male-writer,” or a “female-writer.”
It’s just: Writer.
But what do I know.
When asked my profession, I answered scrittore, never scrittrice, and was sometimes surprised by those who didn’t find it necessary to correct me.
