Is true happiness and security even meant for this world?
Good-grief, I don’t even know.
Maybe this is all part of why nothing that we seek brings us a feeling of lasting
happiness and security.
You chase a new house, a new car, or job, or whatever, and what you thought would make you happy slowly fades.
I guess money and status can bring a certain kind of security.
But isn’t that temporary too?
Thank goodness for the small daily pleasures of friends and family.
For the longing and restlessness I sometimes feel would be too great without them.
The settled happiness and security which we all desire, God withholds from us by the very nature of the world: but joy, pleasure, and merriment, He has scattered broadcast.
