A Different Level Of Interest

A Different Level Of Interest

The deeper I go into my “career” (🤣) – and the older I get – the more I understand this line about how a different level of interest is required.

  • The practice that nobody sees.
  • Refusing to be average.
  • Being an odd duck.
  • Mastering what you love.

Can you start something everyone else thinks is stupid?

Can you keep going when it seems pointless?

Can you have your ego wrecked and get up to try again?

I think that: Major success in anything requires one to be a bit insane.

It soon became clear that Musk had a firmer grasp on the material than anyone else. “This was a group of fairly high achievers, and Elon stood way outside of the bell curve,” Farooq said. Musk’s intensity has continued to be a constant in their long relationship. “When Elon gets into something, he develops just this different level of interest in it than other people. That is what differentiates Elon from the rest of humanity.”

-Ashley Vance, Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future (Amazon)
