Yeah, I had to Google what a raconteur was too.
I had heard it before – read it before – but I could not quite remember.
Anyhow.
A raconteur is a person who tells stories in a funny way.
I mean, don’t we all aspire to that?
(Most of it is practice and timing.)
So here
. I got one for you (another one here):
Headmaster threatens boys and girls from visiting each other’s dorms. $100 first offense, $400 second offense, etc. Freshman in back raises hand and asks: “How much for a season pass?“
They say that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.
I say the way to a woman’s heart is making her laugh.
Dalton Trumbo was the first raconteur I ever met. The family dinners—frequented by art dealers, actors, and artists of all kinds, including the screenwriters Hugo Butler and Ring Lardner, Jr., and the director George Roy Hill—were lively, political, and funny. I had never been in a house where conversations were held during dinner or where food was placed before me after being prepared behind closed doors.
