I had an old basketball coach that use to say “the harder you work the luckier you get.”
He was encouraging us all to give 100% in practice, implying that effort now would carry over to result in the form of winning games.
He was right.
But I don’t think either one of us realized he was actually quoting Benjamin Franklin.
“Sloth makes all things difficult, but industry makes all things easy; and He that riseth late must trot all day, and shall scarce overtake his business at night; while Laziness travels so slowly, that Poverty soon overtakes him.”
-Benjamin Franklin, The Way To Wealth
I read that Theodore Roosevelt said: “We must all either wear out or rust out, every one of us. My choice is to wear out.”
So you do get to choose.
Rust, and sloth, and wishful thinking?
Or hard-work and making things happen?
Your choice.
Franklin continues:
“Sloth, like rust, consumes faster than labor wears; while The used key is always bright, as Poor Richard says.”
