We need an emotionally satisfying answer to the human condition.
See, the largest issue with the problem of pain and suffering is this:
A logical answer will not satisfy people.
Philosophers and theologians can write and explain and raise questions and answers until they are blue in the face.
As crazy as it sounds, most people are not persuaded by logic.
But in demanding an answer for the reality of suffering, the questioner is looking for an emotionally satisfying answer as much or perhaps even more than for an intellectually fulfilling answer. A person falling off a high ladder understands that he will fall downward in the direction of the ground. There is no intellectual struggle there. But his emotional struggle is why the ladder was faulty in the first place or why he was not more careful.
