Want to know what your daughter be like as a teenager?
Look at your 5-year-old.
Because that is when they will come into their personality.
Of course, when you see it, it will be beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time.
Some days you will see your kindergartener.
Some days you see a 16-year-old looking for her car keys.
Personality describes what is unique about a girl. Girls develop much of their personality between birth and age five. We’re amazed at how many parents say things to us like, “I know my daughter is stubborn. She came out that way,” or, “You think she’s strong willed as a teenager —you should have seen her stomp when she was two.” A great deal of the personality formation of our daughters happens in the Discovery Years. Their sense of determination, exploration, and even their burgeoning sense of self begin to take center stage at this time of their lives.
