I want to be in the artist arena too, truth be told.
But, I kind of already do that through writing publicly, don’t I?
It boils down to freedom, I think. Who is – actually – in control of your days?
Anyone can make art anytime. But few get to do it as a vocation.
See, agency of your time is bought with money.
Understand: Financial “freedom” does not just happen.
My dream had moved from rising up the financial hierarchy—that thing that magazines and newspapers and movies and TV shows are really good at portraying—to another value hierarchy. This new hierarchy was the realm of real artists—people who value the actual process of taking something inside their heads and bringing it into the world. Those who create art are amazing to me. My dream was really about getting into that “artist” arena and seeing if I could make a name for myself in that tent. I wanted my writing to start going out in the world and being a part of people’s lives. I wanted the perception of me to change.
