LubbockJobs.io

LubbockJobs.io

Ok, so, I did a thing this weekend and created a Lubbock Jobs board: lubbockjobs.io.

This is the culmination of a few things coming together at once.

First, is my commitment to online experimentation.

If you have an idea, go and try it!

Make a Minimum Viable Product and see if anyone cares about it.

If it’s a flop, you can shut it down in 90 days and nobody will notice.

Nobody but your mom is paying much attention anyway. (Hi mom!)

Second, I have a long and uncomfortable history with unemployment.

Let’s just say there is a spot between “no experience” and “too much education” that I was stuck in for way too long.

Because of this, the job search resonates with me.

Third, I was inspired by Peter Askew. If you don’t know, he has built ranchwork.com and vidaliaonions.com, among others.

This guy knows job boards…

Fourth, Lubbock is now my home.

And, based on career trajectories, probably will be for the rest of my professional life.

So there you have it.

Check out lubbockjobs.io here – and let me know what you think!

I plan on adding one new job every night.

Thanks!

(And yes – the top picture is of Joyland – I thought about it because I was there on Thursday.)

All Art Is Avant-Garde Art

All Art Is Avant-Garde Art

If you don’t know, all art is avant-garde art.

(Avant-garde means “experimental” or “innovative.”)

I mean, right? At least to some extent…

Sure others have painted or written or whatever before – but not in the exact same way – with the same style and personality.

In the same way that Picasso painted a million pieces, but is only know for like 20 of them – every single post on this blog is an avant-garde expression of guessing.

Week in and week out I get the writing done.

99% of it nobody cares about.

But occasionally one post will hit a note somewhere.

The rest are good practice and will hopefully be seen somewhere on the long-tail.

Keep going.

Then I added: I have decided my act is going to go avant-garde. It is the only way to do what I want. I’m not sure what I meant, but I wanted to use the lingo, and it was seductive to make these pronouncements. Through the years, I have learned there is no harm in charging oneself up with delusions between moments of valid inspiration.
