Here is another persuasion tactic, the high-ground maneuver.
This is simply taking an argument to a level that everyone can agree on.
Sure, it’s simple – but it might just work.
For instance, one might:
1. Take a discussion of monetary and fiscal policy – to agreeing that we all want a booming economy.
2. Move a disagreement over education spending – to agreeing that we all simply want educated children.
3. And take a fight over the fairness and efficiency of farming subsidies – to agreeing that we all want, and need, a safe food supply.
PERSUASION TIP 13: Use the High-Ground Maneuver to frame yourself as the wise adult in the room. It forces others to join you or be framed as the small thinkers.
