Here are my notes on, The Hiding Place, By: Corrie Ten Boom.
Father sat down on the edge of the narrow bed.
“Corrie.” he began gently, ‘when do I give you your ticket?”
I sniffed a few times, considering this.
“Why, just before we get on the train.”
“Exactly. And our wise Father in heaven knows when we’re going to need things, too.
Don’t run ahead of him, Corrie.
When the time comes that some of us will have to die, you will look into your heart and find the strength you need-just in time.”
And then as we listed in disbelief she lowered her hands and, with tears still coursing down her face, whispered, “Dear Jesus, I thank You that we must come with empty hands. I thank You that You have done all-all-on the cross, and that all we need in life or death is to be sure of this.”
“Corrie.” he began instead, “do you know what hurts so very much? It’s love. Love is the strongest force in the world, and when it is blocked that means pain.
“There are two things we can do when this happens. We can kill the love so that is stops hurting. But then of course part of us dies, too.
Or, Corrie, we can ask God to open up another route for that love to travel.
And so I learned that love is larger than the walls that shut it in.
There are no ‘ifs’ in God’s world. And no places that are safer than other places. The center of his will is our only safety-Oh Corrie, let us pray that we may always know it!
Perhaps only when human effort had done its best effort and failed, would God’s power alone be free to work.
We must tell them that there is no pit so deep that He [Jesus] is not deeper still.
And so I discovered that it is not our forgiveness any more than on our goodness that the world’s healing hinges, but on His. When He tells us to love our enemies, He gives, along with the command, the love itself.
