This is a bad kind of favor, via Seth Godin:
The first favor is when you ask a friend or colleague to do something for you.
The second favor is when you ask them to do it precisely the way you would do it.
They’re not related. And the second one costs more.
The former is in the normal course of a day.
The latter is an inch too far.
And the latter costs employers good employees: Every. Single. Day.
Between life and death is probably the drudgery of doing the same thing, in the same job, every single day.
I mean, does anyone truly seek this monotony?
This is what Naval was talking about when he spoke of the fact that if someone is telling you what to do, where to be, and how to act – you are not truly free.
