Girls Interact Constantly

Girls interact constantly? You don’t say.

Of course, they do.

Anyone with a little girls knows they do.

And yes – they can sound like a broken record.

A lovely and beautiful broken record.

All I know is this:

Every sing day, to the best of my ability, I will interact every time I am invited.

I invite you to do the same.

I mean, with each new moment you share, who knows what kind of beautiful relationships you might be growing.

Girls from birth to age five are inviting us to interact constantly. They are inviting us in ways that are loud, entreating, and sound like a broken record, but they are inviting nonetheless. It may be that a girl is inviting her mother to pet a dog with her. She may be inviting her father to play a game or see a spider with her. Regardless of the invitation, these children are experiencing something that they want us to share. Essentially, they are inviting us to interact.

-Melissa Trevathan and Sissy Goff, Raising Girls
