Coffee and Confusion

Coffee and Confusion

Coffee and Confusion is a 🔥 name for a coffee shop!

And it’s funny how often our careers start as one thing and morph into something else.

I think I would just say that we should not resist these changes.

Let the doors open and close as they will.

That week at the Coffee and Confusion, something started to make sense. My act, having begun three years earlier as a conventional attempt to enter regular show business, was becoming a parody of comedy. I was an entertainer who was playing an entertainer, a not so good one, and this embryonic notion drove me to work on other material in that vein.

-Steve Martin, Born Standing Up (Amazon)

This Japanese Coffee Kissa

This Japanese Coffee Kissa

Oh man, this Japanese coffee “kissa” looks completely inviting.

I’d love to find a corner in this place and spend a few hours with a good book, a cup of coffee, and a little plate of food.

So culturally distinctive that many kissas serve pizza toast to eat with your coffee.

Rather hang out here than in Starbucks any day…

But that’s just me.

Via Alan Jacobs:

Craig Mod is an American writer/programmer/photographer who lives in Japan, and is fascinated by the distinctively Japanese coffeeshop/cafe called kissa. They’re sort of dying out now, thanks to Starbucks and the like, so Mod visited pretty much every kissa he could find and wrote a book about them. All kissa serve coffee and most of them serve “pizza toast” to eat as you drink your coffee.
