If you are in doubt about what to read, reading widely may be the best option.
This seems reasonable if not completely practical.
While I have recommended starting with books that have withstood the test of time, there is no doubt that reading nothing but these classic books would probably be an easy ticket to the crazy house.
For if taken too far, this reading path can become an exercise in burning calories.
And that hardly seems the point.
In fact, I recommend making reading an idle pleasure as much as you can.
Maybe even try it at breakfast?
And even if you are that rare sort of person who is delighted chiefly by what some people call Great Books, don’t make them your steady intellectual diet, any more than you would eat at the most elegant of restaurants every day. It would be too much.
