You need a strong handshake.
We all do.
This is because a strong handshake conveys confidence.
See, you are going to make a first impression no matter what happens.
Take advantage of the association in people minds:
- Soft handshake = Insecure/Weak
- Firm handshake = Confident/Strong
Honestly, now that I think about it, a firm handshake could be great persuasion tip. Of course it will not do everything. But it is one more advantage that will point in your favor.
There are many things you cannot control in a social situation. Thankfully, your handshake is not one of them.
Ignore this at your own peril.
I shook his hand. His hand was different. It was big and strong and rough—it felt like leather more than skin. “Is that all ya got?” he said. “What?” I replied, not entirely sure what he was talking about. “That handshake. Is that as hard as you can squeeze?” I squeezed harder. “Better,” said Uncle Jake. “We’ll work on that.”
